Caterpillars, Ants, Aphids….Oh My!
These common bugs can wreak havoc on your plants. So can numerous other species, but there is a quick and easy way to fight back. We have included the recipe to a great all natural solution to help you take back control of the garden.
It is simple to make and works great!
3 garlic bulbs (about 8 cloves)
6 large hot peppers (any variety)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of Eco-friendly liquid soap
8 cups water.
Liquid spray bottle
Coffee Filter or Small Strainer
Blend all of the ingredients until the mixture is 100% liquid
Pour the Firebug solution into your spray bottle (Strain through a coffee filter if necessary)
Spray the Firebug mixture on all of your affected plants. Also, spray the surrounding soil and around your elevated platforms (garden beds)
Reapply every few days until there is no sign of pests
Follow up with maintenance applications about every 7-10 days. This will take care of any new visitors, including eggs or larvae as they hatch.
You should also reapply the Firebug Garlic Spray after rainfall.
You may need to adjust your recipe. If any plants show damage from the treatment, rinse them and add water to dilute the original recipe. On the other hand, you may need a stronger dose if pests continue to visit your plants. In this case, add more of the garlic, peppers, oil, and soap.
